Difficult economic times typically produce groups with a rallying cry of "throw
the bums out". People love to wax politically at the bar, on talk radio, at family meetings
and elsewhere about how we need to vote out all incumbents. This idea, while a clear and
concise statement of what may be required to remedy the situation, often is reduced to mere
rhetoric when it comes to marking the ballot.
Reality is that most people will strongly state their abhorrence for their legislature, municipal governance or their elected executive officials, yet when it comes to their own elected officials, they frequently vote the same old faces into office.
While people genuinely want change, they are afraid to act to secure what they really want. Most problematic is the fact that people will agree with the idea of "not voting for anyone who is an incumbent", but when they get into the voting booth, they second guess their pledge. It is only human.
While people may publicly pledge not to vote for
anyone presently holding office, they will privately
violate that pledge in that it assaults their personal
beliefs.
Once breached, their pledge to vote out all incumbents is then logically considered void in their mind. Having already violated their original intention, these voters will then proceed to elect as many incumbents as they wish, wholly disregarding their original desire.
That being so, I am proposing and strongly advocate
for a program called
JUST PICK TWO [ANY TWO]. [read more]
